Göhring Innenarchitektur was tasked with the design of the Hofmann offices, a model builder, located in Lichtenfels, Germany.
Hofmann, Ihr Möglichmacher, one of the world’s leading prototyping providers, relies on a combination of different manufacturing processes to make projects for customers. For the new construction of the production and administration areas of the new 3D printing department, it was used the typical design language of this production technology, both in the architecture of the buildings as well as in the design of the interiors. The facade of the gatehouse, whose structure continues in the inside, looks like a macro photograph of bionic structures.
The furniture adapted to this formal vocabulary and tapering wall panels with integrated storage space welcome the visitor and give a taste of the modern production and working world of Robert Hofmann GmbH. The administrative areas were deliberately designed to be quieter. Here, the subject of 3D printing is only reflected in individual elements such as the floor covering, the additional lighting or the curtains. In addition to the administrative areas, attractive meeting and break zones for employees were also designed in the production area.
